Mr Chris Ong is the Chief Executive Officer of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) since 1 July 2017, and is concurrently the Managing Director of Keppel Renewable Energy. Prior to these appointments, he served as the Managing Director of Keppel FELS Limited. Mr Ong has held a series of leadership positions in Engineering, Commercial, Operations and Marketing functions throughout his career in the oil and gas industry.
Mr Ong is the Chairman of Keppel FELS Brasil S.A, Keppel AmFELS, Asian Lift Pte Ltd and FueLNG Pte Ltd. He holds directorships in Keppel Infrastructure as well as several subsidiaries and associated companies of Keppel O&M and Keppel Corporation Limited. Mr. Ong also brings his leadership and expertise to many external boards, such as the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the Institute of Technical Education Board of Governors (BOG) and the Singapore Institute of Technology Industry Advisory Committee (IAC). He is a committee member of the American Bureau of Shipping, DNV GL South East Asia and Pacific, Bureau Veritas Asia-Australia, The Offshore Technical Committee (TOTC) and a council member of Stiftelsen Det Norske Veritas.
Mr Ong has an established track record of building and augmenting engineering competencies for mega platform energy projects. He strategically repositioned the organisation to pivot to the renewables energy sector while spearheading digitalisation to drive new product designs, productivity and optimise business efficiency. He has leveraged synergies across Keppel O&M and the wider Keppel Group to innovate and expand solution offerings to capture the opportunities in existing and new markets.
Mr Ong holds a Bachelor and a Master in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the National University of Singapore and has completed the Berkeley-Nanyang’s Advanced Management Programme.
